Description:
Beautiful 5 to 7-lobed, star-shaped leaves which smell of carrots when crushed. Decidedly pyramidal tree in youth becoming oval to rounded with age. Medium to fast growth rate in moist, deep soil in full sun. Grey-brown bark becomes deeply furrowed with age. Interesting, spiny brown seed capsules are often used to ornament Christmas wreaths or other holiday decorations. Very good rich yellow-purple-red fall color. Useful as a lawn, park, or street tree where root growth isn’t inhibited. NATIVE.
