Description:
Leaves emerge silvery green in spring, changing to dark green in summer. Smooth, silvery grey bark becoming wrinkled with age. The edible nuts are a staple food source for many different species of wildlife. In the fall, leaves are a showy golden-bronze. These leaves often persist through the winter (mainly on the lower portions of the tree) and become almost translucent in the first rays of spring sunshine. NATIVE.
