Description:
Corky bark when young becomes shaggy and furrowed with age. Pendulous catkins adorn the tree in spring. Bears edible nuts in shaggy clusters which are loved by wildlife. Nuts can be tasty if roasted. Very tolerant of all urban stresses with few pests or diseases. Excellent tree for those who don't find nut littler offensive.
